Implicitly set aside as preservation and protected areas based on the national laws of Colombia and ethical perspectives of the conservation movement. Projects where the people engaged in community service must address based on the legal imperative and necessity obliged in law.
The story behind our manifestation in Puerto Carreño to organize a tourism council is based on our community participation and concern over the condition of the area's public spaces such as Parks, Plazas, Recreational Facilities and the Riverfront. Slowly but surely, these public spaces will begin to once again become places of community events and represent the goodwill of the community towards its visitors. All tourism council members will be required to provide volunteers for activities and events to recover these public venues. Watch here as these venues are developed.
The Orinoco Ecological Area is an area that is approximately 105 hectares depending on the level of the river, the area is within the jurisdiction of the Puerto Carreño Municipal Government and the Vichada Government. There are no claims on the region and in accordance with Colombian Environmental Laws the entire 105 hectare area must be preserved. The Puerto Carreño Tourism Council is working on a 5 year plan to convert the area into a nature park, install fencing, and mark foot trails through the park area.
