The Cerro de la Bandera is the best viewpoint of Puerto Carreño capital of Vichada, it has a height of 97 meters and from it you can see the entire urban area of the municipality, as well as the mouth of the Meta and Bita rivers towards the Orinoco river. History of the Cerro de la Bandera The Cerro de la Bandera is a rock formation known as Precambrian stone which is more than 350 million years old, being a sample of the Guayanés Massif. Previously it was an observation point that allowed to monitor the access of river boats and was known by the name of Picacho until in 1913 when General Buenaventura Bustos, commissioner of Vichada, with the purpose of exercising sovereignty, placed the Colombian Flag on its top; Since then it has been called "El Cerro de la Bandera".

The Orinoco Riverside Port is the oldest and most revered tourist attraction which will never go out of style, it is the highlight of the capital city. The riverwalk is approximately 400 meters long with restaurants, bars, pool halls, and several fishmonger shops, there are also convenience stores, a coffee shop and a bakery, of course.

According to locals there have been large peacock bass caught in this lake, after an ecological study was made it was determined than long ago these two ponds served as a natural breeding and nursery area for the great pavon (peacock bass) and other unique aquatic tropical fish species.

If you make the ascent from the Malecón, you will be able to see in one of the rocky outcrops the monument to Cacique Samanare, which is a monument made up of three statues that represent the native indigenous cultures of the region. This is an unmissable place in your visit to Puerto Carreño because it has the best views of the municipality, being the highest place in the surroundings you can enjoy in all its splendor magnificent sunsets and sunrises, as well as beautiful views of the natural areas that they surround Puerto Carreño as are the Metas, Bita and Orinoco rivers, as well as the Bita hill; Upon reaching the top, in addition to the beautiful views, you will find the monument of a large cross, as well as the Colombian flag that honors the name of the hill.
